I don’t think this was meant for, obviously, really smart people like you. It is to give a sense of scale that a working person understands. The concept of a billion dollars isn’t easy for most people to actually comprehend.

In a roundabout, totally legal way, yes they are. Technically it is a US organization that wants to strengthen US ties with Israel, so it’s totally not foreign influence /s
AIPAC and Citizens United are actually frightening.

They are able to change the outcome of races with seemingly unlimited money. A spend of 8.4 million in a Missouri primary is absurd, and likely is a drop in the bucket of what is spent influencing the presidential race.
I don’t think there is a way to fix this either, since the people that should be writing laws to prevent it are the ones benefiting the most.
I imagine this is also happening in Republican primaries, so one can’t just vote differently to address the root cause. Both republicans and Democrats seem to be tripping over each other to prove what a friend they are to Israel. It’s really weird and stressful to be a US citizen right now.
It’s not high tech, but a door lock with a simple pin pad has been great at my house. Never have to worry about having keys or getting locked out. Just have to change some batteries every six months or so. This isn’t Internet connected, but I see that as a benefit.
Getting the year of an event tattooed on your face in itself is so dumb. It’ll be like pulling one of those free work tshirts out of the closet in a few years; like “HR summit 2012”, except with the orange man.
I usually do some goofy math like cost / uses. The first time I used a $300 washing machine I considered that a $300+ load of laundry, next time we’re down to $150, and so on.
For a song I’d probably at least want a few dozen plays out of it for $1, although nowadays everyone just subscribes and streams.
It’s almost like if people had free time, a positive outlook on life, and resources to live comfortably that babies would be a natural outcome.
This! Uncle Bob is a garbage person. Used to really respect him, but F that guy.
I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy nut, but I am very disturbed at AIPAC and similar organizations spending millions in local primaries to unseat candidates that are vocally pro Palestine. Cori Bush and others in the “squad” dare to speak against them and are actively being replaced by big money.
Their PACs are pumping a ton of money into this election. https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus?ind=Q05
They are certainly trying to oust anyone who spoke out against them in the Democratic party with pro Israel candidates, like Wesley Bell over Cori Bush in Missouri.
It really is more of a visual medium. A picture is worth a thousand words after all!
He blasted them, hard!
Yes. Diplomacy is good. War is bad. Killing civilians is bad. Abducting people is bad. But diplomacy is good.
I leave mine stock yellow, but it is kind of a cool thing when you see a bunch of different color emojis liking a post. Feels nice and diverse lol.
Printing Butt is fun and all, but if I’m at the point of logging nonsense, it is usually a stronger word.
As a US citizen I don’t feel like I get a good ROI on my taxes. It’s a small percentage of upkeep for public things, some below average public education, and a shit ton of weaponry.
A person suggesting genocide as a solution is a dangerous idiot; a country actually performing war crimes that make the whole world wonder if they are commiting genocide needs to be stopped.
I don’t want to debate the semantics of genocide, I just want them to stop murdering everything that moves, destroying all infrastructure, and starving an entire population.
That’s weird. I wonder if it is because of the genocide?
It’s infuriating are schools aren’t doing a better job.
