A cranky biologist who means well. My hobbies include long walks off short piers and anything science related.

Why do you keep insisting that the only race that matters is for the Presidency? You keep hidng behind your superior moral stance based on the Electoral Colleges flaws. The electoral college only pertains to the presidency.
What’s going on in your local school board or city council races? If you can’t answer, then perhaps reconsider who may be falling for a psy-op.
Bless you for this comment.
How many commenters here have even tried to figure out how ‘busses’ (the electoral process) work and find a way to get involved?
Spend 5 hours a week (yes, you can find the time, deduct it from your screen time!) and you could basically take over your local party committee. That alone won’t change the national trend, but you might just be able to influence a city council or school board race.
Local races hinge on a handful of votes very often. In our area, we managed to keep two anti-LGBTQ+ candidates off the school board last election. This impacts the lives of literally thousands of youth and their families and it hinged on about 80 votes. Vote, yes, but at least skim the Chilton manual for your bus in between elections. It really does matter
This is a replica prop from an old TV show about time travel. (Voyagers, the device was called Omni). That’s what I thought of.
Kinda left me hanging there.
He hacked too much time again.

In addition, in order to get useful fibers, plants are sown at a density of at least several hundred seeds per square meter. They stretch to 2-3 meters tall trying to win the race to the sunlight. Stalks of plants grown in the typical indoor grow way are only good as very low grade biomass for methane digestion or as chips that might serve in hemplime or hempcrete. An insignificant market so far as these technologies are still going through the regulatory processes to be used more widely.
There are effective dual cropping systems that can yield cannabinoids from flower and get useful fiber but it is not common yet either.
If Tuvix retained Tuvoks skills, keeping Tuvix would mean not having to deal with Neelix, however. Im sure she considered that as a reason to keep Tuvix, before her bloodlust won out.
They will trap you and use you, before you even know.
Wouldn’t Rocket Racoon be considered anthropomorphic?
I make steady but friendly eye contact with anyone asking for ID from my younger dining companions. The challenge is there, are you telling me I look old enough to drink! (Im balding and completely grey on the remainder, there’s no pretending any more)
A choice that will bless you the remainder of your days. When you grow up, your heart dies. No one really grows up anyway, some just make the sad choice to harden up and become closed to growth and new experiences.
Hard agree. Im 52 and most of my friends average about 30ish. Thing is I can relate, but due to extra time in the game of life, I have made a peace with the challenges younger people still fight with. Still the proximity of youth is a valuable perspective. I treasure my younger friends for this and many other reasons.
It’s Captain Pikes Beep-Beep chair!
But, joke aside, assistive technologies are growing really rapidly. Preserving autonomy for more people is a Good Thing™️
It’s a taste of the real world need we have for second-order relationships, i.e. neighbors. I grew up in a close knit homogeneous small town three hours drive from the nearest proper metro area. It was simultaneously suffocating and comforting to have real neighbors.
I recently became active in precinct-level party politics (im in USA) precisely to meet some IRL neighbors. I stick around lemmy for an online taste of the same thing. It fills a basic social need.
Hi, neighbors!
What number of fingers or toes would be not weird?
Yes. In my experience it was frequently a Lord of the Flies situation. I had hour long bus rides in my rural district where the only adult was busy driving. Knowing teenagers you can probably imagine how the freaks and geeks got treated.
Nobody you know has that experience because those with a different moral compass left early. I’m pretty confident you haven’t done the work to follow up and find out why with anyone who found it distasteful. Your arguments-from-incredulity make this quite clear.
Nice family you have there . . .
