If they do it and picket any such shipments I’m expecting a brutal reprisal from the police. That said I applaud those pushing for it.

I mean yes, but that happens to be from 2007.
Plastic shelters and hygiene kits are well and good but how about food and potable water?
Veto power exists in the Security Council, not in the General Assembly. Unfortunately in this case, admission requires the Security Council to recommend a member be approved before the General Assembly can hold a vote.
The conflict with Israel has gone on for 76 years. October 7th was just the start of a cycle of intensification within the larger conflict.
Waving white flags and begging for help in Hebrew.
The far reaching parts of the proposal involve steps to actually break the cycle and ultimately get to a two state solution. Israel doesn’t actually want a real two state solution, so of course they’re going to reject it.
Maybe it’s just a ploy to get someone to take charge. The last time Haitians seriously talked about reparations a bunch of paramilitaries mysteriously showed up and seized control.
Funding? No. But with the Iranian drone/missile strike US and other allied forces were doing interceptions. That’s not happening in Ukraine unless there are some dramatic escalations, right wing memelords or no.
Their mistake was giving up the nukes in their possession in the 90s in exchange for worthless security guarantees. No other nation should ever be so stupid.
Because Iran doesn’t have a massive nuclear weapons stockpile.
Oh boy. $8/dozen eggs here we come.
Clearly it was a Hamas Command Tent.
It seems pretty obvious that the investigations are politically motivated. On the other hand if he committed a crime that other people are also regularly charged with and prosecuted for, then fuck it, prosecute him. No one is above the law.
Next do Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, and Jared, etc
It hasn’t been 6 months. She was seen on Christmas. Then nothing and sometime in late January they announced she was having a planned abdominal surgery and wouldn’t be in public until after Easter.
Aristide called for reparations from France. Then a bunch of paramilitary units came across the border from the Dominican Republic and staged a coup, at the climax of which the US offered him a plane trip into exile in Africa.
It also leaves out one of the huge factors in why Haiti is how it is. In 1825, after the revolution (and the subsequent genocide of Europeans in the country), Haiti made various proposals to the French for recognition of its independence. Eventually France rolled up to Port-au-Prince with over a dozen warships informing the Haitian government that it owed France 150 million francs over the next 5 years and in return would be recognized as independent.
Haiti obviously could not repay that sum in five years, so they obtained loans from French banks and eventually American banks, principally the bank that eventually became Citibank. Even after a reduction to 90 million francs they still didn’t finish making payments until 1947.
In 2004 the UN sent peacekeepers to solidify the US and French-backed coup d’état. It’s a mess, and the terrible series of natural disasters also hasn’t helped.
No, it’s more that every time the US intervenes it results in an even worse clusterfuck.
It doesn’t even involve drug smuggling. Like organized crime in the US, they’ve branched out into racketeering and extortion in otherwise legitimate industries. Tortillerias are also major targets of extortion rackets now in Mexico.
