Lmao! Dead internet theory!
I’ll do this later…
Lmao! Dead internet theory!
Why? So we can import school shootings?
So what if the deep fake consent?
I would love a FOSS version of Rhino3D.
I can and do donate to the Lemmy project. I should also donate to the instances I use. I’ll donate for you as well, I don’t even need Netflix.
It has everything to do with it. Ukraine was part of the USSR. NATO was created to counter the USSR. After it broke up and NATO remained they started adding more to the alliance. The alliance crept closer and closer to Russia. If Ukraine joined NATO then that would be the greatest threat to Russia. They don’t trust the west.
I like the phrase you used for maintaining a community. “Gardening” seems appropriate. You’ve got to till the soil (infrastructure), plant the seeds (content), water and fertilize (users), and watch it grow as you pull the weeds (moderate). Lemmy definitely needs more and better gardening tools so we, the community, should build them.
Lemmy is not the perfect replacement but with some work it can become better. It could use some improved tooling, I want the ability to follow other users, and there’s always room for improvement with the apps.
I prefer an MP3 player over my phone. Here is the one I use. Why I like this one:
They’re clearly using shaming tactics. By calling it a “tantrum” they try to make those mods look childish. In reality the mods demanded something to make their jobs easier, the company refused, so they parted ways.
Defining it as a feature doesn’t excuse it.
It definitely lacks diversity. But at the same time it reminds me of the early internet where we had dedicated forums like IGN. Most people weren’t on these forums nor cared to be there. The problem here is sometimes Lemmy is not welcoming because of the way it is designed. You have to host and run your own instance or join someone else’s instance. That is good because we, the users of Lemmy, own it but bad because we become very protectionists. We want to protect our instance from bad actors but some users take it to the extreme and protect the instance from people who aren’t like them and think differently.
I send Lemmy some money every month. Not a lot but what I can. I’m also learning Rust and once I get confident I’ll contribute. I like Lemmy and the fediverse in general.
Who’s not allowed to bring it up? I’ll say it all day. I give no fucks that Israel doesn’t like it, fuck them.
We look like Reddit because we are filled with disgruntled reddit users.
Well now speaking of fallacies you reply with an Ad Hominem one. I never said anything about wanting the people of Ukraine murdered. My original post was criticizing why the US govt spends so much energy prioritizing Ukraine’s defense when we have Americans struggling here in the US.
No matter what their governments are they are still a part of this world. And my original statement still stands.
First off we do not have an alliance with Ukraine. We do not have any official defense treaty with them so they are not allies, just quasi-allies since we supply them with weapons. There is a difference because if they were allies then we’d be directly fighting Russia now. And yes we can do both, fund Ukraine and infrastructure, or we can focus on just one. How is that a false choice fallacy? A false choice fallacy is based on a premise that erroneously limits what options are available. I didn’t limit any options, I merely stated that I don’t like the option chosen and think another option is the better choice.
You know sometimes both are correct.
Make your own weapons then!
