      Too bad it still sucks.

As a test, I searched Google for "headphone jack" site:lemmy.ml and got 18 results, whereas I got only two results with 4get (DuckDuckGo), and zero results on all the other engines (Brave etc).

For a meta search engine, it’s surprising that it doesn’t support searching Google for web results.

I saw this on another post about Searx. I was curious so I checked out the search and its pretty good. I did not see a lot of settings to configure tho

‘Open in new tab’ and ‘infinite scroll’ options.

Oh and also… Search suggestions as you type, that would be awesome.

I quite like this search engine as it is right now. The features I mentioned are all ‘nice to haves’ so it’s not a big deal even if these are not added.

Been using this for a while now just for the Gruvbox theme lol. IIRC, it defaults to DDG results.

When people self host searx and 4get, is it meant to be local use too, or is it only for public use? (or both?)

Like would it be stupid if I host searx but only for local use? How does it even work?

      Both.

Ideally, if you’re hosting a private one, it’s better to share it with your friends since it helps to obfuscate the traffic.
