I don’t understand the kind of sociopathy required (by the judges in question) to seek an excuse to pedantically redefine a device whose whole original purpose is killing people en-masse.

The US police force is full of sociopaths. But I like to believe that there are at least a few sincere officers in there. They are the ones who are really going to pay for such acts. The Capitol Hill insurrection is a good example.

The scary part is that there are a lot of dumbfucks to cheer on and rich sleazeballs to finance his ideas. If just 0.1% of the population agrees with it (can guarantee that those will be the richest 0.1%), you’re looking at a horrifying future.

The only reason I can think of for anyone opposing covid-19 restrictions is covid-19 denial. While it’s true that the restrictions caused mental and emotional distress to the kids, parents would have considered it as a necessary compromise if they took covid-19 seriously.

It isn’t inconceivable that there is a great overlap between covid-19 deniers and those who are opposed to diversity. Then why isn’t it so? Did I make a mistake in the assumptions I made?

The American solution to every mass shooting is very predictable - more guns! Big tobacco is mild compared to that (I’m not a fan of tobacco and have never consumed it).

American companies are a different breed - even among the private institutions in the world that pursue profit at any cost. Forget the really harmful ones like gun dealers, big tobacco or the oil industry. Even completely essential ones like the aircraft industry give little value to the lives of ordinary individuals. They would rather see people dead if the cost of litigation isn’t as high as putting safety features in. To put it mildly, US is a nightmarish dystopia from those apocalyptic novels.

Please keep your conservatives under a tight leash. They pose a serious threat to the life and safety of normal people if they’re allowed to roam free like this.

The same technique is being studied for assisted suicides where the terminal patient gets to administer or even withdraw it themselves. That is likely to have a better ethical standing since it’s about dying with dignity if they can’t live with dignity. It’s likely to confirm if nitrogen asphyxiation is as painless as they claim.

That aside, some meds say that hypoxia is painless as long as carbon dioxide content in the blood remains low. Even carbon monoxide poisoning victims seem to die in sleep. That sounds way better than any of the other methods of execution. Not that I support the death penalty.

Hundreds of cops have immunity over crimes as bad as murder. Meanwhile one loses his life trying to stop a literal coup attempt and the law is indifferent towards him. Are they training the cops to be bad?

Hypocrisy is a prerequisite to becoming a Republican. Calling out their hypocrisy is like saying water is wet.

The GOP is chock-full of habitual hypocrites that I don’t see a good reason for calling out their hypocrisy like this.

Is this the same GOP that’s worried about losing ‘trillions and trillions of dollars’ over ‘a tiny fraction of CO2 in the atmosphere’ in the name of climate change? They truly are a bunch of devilish scumbags without whom the world would be infinitely more pleasant.
