  • Yeeeah… I vaguely remember that. Granted, he was never meant to be a role model, he’s a drug addict (although that doesn’t stop certain men from thinking he’s a badass to emulate?).

So I guess the real episode would go: one of the cool interns makes the recommendation when brainstorming around a white board, he shoots them down, and then assigns all manner of psych drugs that kinda work until the intern does the treatment themselves and get canned for it (but two seasons later we see they’re a doctor doing a great job).

  • Oh yeah, I remember how it bitched I didn’t have enough room because it was trying to clone my fucking documents folder without being asked.

And heaven forbid actually using it. I stored work files on a paid account and it cloned it locally on my laptop nearly killing my 500gb hard drive I the process. Again, unprompted. It’s such a garbage system.

  • I knew who they were from the moment I saw the thumbnail. Not a good gay test, though, as I’m mostly just a cartoon fan.

Btw, it’s a slow burn but Adventure Time gets really good near the end, with those two actually canonized as in a relationship by the end. Their special epilogue episode (which I think was on HBO) was also super cute.

(Later seasons are probably Rebecca Sugars influence, she was on Adventure Time staff until she started Steven Universe, but often ended up working on later stuff with them too, including songs in their latest HBO stuff)

Cool cool, but this game I’ve been playing had me gather Drywall from a mining site for a culinary themed questlime… twice. Yum!

So take it from me, rando Internet person: mix drywall with all your soups for extra flavor and nutrients!

  • If it makes you feel better, I don’t particularly hate an outgroup (like reddit) and I’m not really here for that reason (although I like the app options here too). Maybe that’s a minority view, but hate is just too emotionally draining for me. Maybe I stick around because those Trek and Linux nerds won me over, haha.

But yeah, maybe if you like hearing folks over at Lemmygrad (or even… Hexbear?!) federation is still your best bet because you’ll never get that on the more mainstream sources. If it’s a bad experience, maybe you need to tweak your approach. Just brainstorming though, I really don’t know the ideal platform for open discourse.

  • I’m not sure of better alternatives, only different. Mastodon or even Threads might be your solution. I also took a look at the comment history to get a sense of what you mean and I think I get it since I also get a fair share of negative interactions.

I think it’s actually because of Lemmy’s size that you get some pretty fringe views on here. Heck, if anything, the diversity you seek might mostly be all the views in-between that get drown out by the loudest fringe views. I’m sure there plenty of us lurking, since it’s so exhausting engaging with lemmings at times. I’m by no means a moderate, but simply trying to defend a news source as legitimate can feel like a disheartening chore.

Anyway, I don’t really know where to go for that and if you find out, I’d love to know. I don’t necessarily agree with you on your views, whatever they may be, but I certainly can agree that we need a little wider range of views (and perhaps a bit more civility when someone expresses a different perspective).
