To say all the hostages are European Settlers is just such a false view of the facts. A lot of these people weren’t settlers. And to assume they are “European” (by which I assume you mean White) is also wrong. There are Jews (and Arabs) that live (and have lived) in this region for centuries, also there is a huge population of Jews that are black or general POC.

I’m generally not a fan of party politics (though I realize you often have to bite the bullet on voting). But the pirate party here (Germany) is a really problematic bunch some of them thinking freedom means free markets some of them thinking free speech means they should be able to say hateful Nazi shit … Really not a party I want to vote for, even in a pinch.

To anyone who is as confused by this as I was when I first saw it. They basically want to teach a way to “solve” more complicated additions by first “getting to ten”, so if you want to add 8+9 it’s the same as adding 8+2 (from the nine) then you have 10 and then you add the remaining 7. (And 10+7 is obvious).
Also the dots are a visualization of the process (each number represented with as many dots so you “take” two dots from the 9 (turning it into a 7) and “give” them to the 8 (willing it up to 10) so you “made” a 10.
So the right answer here is, as I understand it:
8+2+7=8+9=17
The whole European grid is connected (which is a miraculous feat). And yes, there is a European market for energy where countries can sell surplus and buy in high demand situations.
