I’ve been using a Mac since 1991, so to say I’m invested in a particular OS already would be an understatement. That said, I’ve also tried Linux many times, and in the long run I’ve abandoned each of those for ridiculously simply things I think it should be able to do that will take me more time than I’m willing to lose to get that simple thing to work. I -work in IT- and I still don’t want to sped my off-time troubleshooting problems. Learning, yes. Fixing, not so much.
And whatever you do, don’t say “Apple” lest you release the banshees that somehow think Android isn’t just Google spyware. Seriously, Android core OS will end up as easily corrupted as Chrome in the long run, but sure, keep thinking it’s freedom I guess.
Usually only after an unusual shutdown and reboot like a power outage. But for the most part it’s pretty solid. It’s definitely on an improvement on my previous attempts to do it on an iMac from 2012 that had s shit 5400 failing 2.5" HD in it. Current device is a Dell OptiPlex 2020 with 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD with 2TB external drive for media (I have a 4TB waiting in the wings to replace it). Overall, it’s fast and stable. I would say there were definite improvements when I went to a lifetime Pro account with Plex. Given that these are parts that I pay nothing for via discard and device retirement in my workplace, I’m pretty happy with the outcome.
I’m lazy and run it on an old Dell box running Windows 10.

Panasonic DP-UB420-K - It’s the best mid-range I could afford and find and I’m pretty happy with it. The sound on it with just a Sony stereo sound bar and stereo conversion is a lot better than any other sound coming out of any of my other devices.
