I’m a Linux System Engineer and was the only one in my team that knew Go. I decided to update our mess of old shell scripts for post-provisioning and my boss suggested that I do it in Python so it can easily by edited/fixed by anyone on the team. I spent like two days attempting to do it in Python and then gave up because it would mean transferring a bunch of source code around, installing dependencies and just general annoyances.

In the end the Go project ended up being about 1300 lines of code across a few source files, but it could act as both the client and server (necessary for our hosts in our DMZ to hit our AWX server) with a single binary and no additional dependencies. It was also only like 10 MB.

Yeah, that’s probably why. I’m 38 and racism has always been prevalent here. If anything, I’d say it was worse when Obama was president because all the racists/White Supremacists didn’t want a black guy running the country since it has been white guys since the 1700s.

I was banned site wide for 3 days because I linked to a South Park bit about Harley riders being obnoxiously loud, all because I labeled the hyperlink as “f@gs” (without the @, in case Lemmy has a similar auto mod).

I was perma-banned from Trashy because I posted a link to the Stupid Spoiled Whore Playset bit from South Park on a post about those toddler beauty pageants.

It seems the mods don’t like South Park 😂

It definitely has negative effects for everyone, but teens/tweens are the most susceptible to it.

I guess we should say that it’s an “intensifier”. If you get bullied at school, it no longer stays at school. If there’s gossip or someone does something embarrassing it’s no longer forgotten, but quickly plastered all over the Internet. I graduated high school in 2004, so I didn’t have to deal with any of this.
