But I will still put a disclaimer here that I am not French, just sharing my view since it seemed to be that most countries including mine are, ultimately, having the same problem. Feel free to correct me! Here goes:

I think, the general reason for this right-wing surge ultimately boils down to economics. People are obviously not satisfied with their current quality of life - see e.g. housing prices. Many blame it on things such as outside migrations or the geopolitical enemy of their country, etc etc. This is a hotbed for conservative-leaning mindsets.

Those factors I mentioned could have played a hand in this problem, but my opinion is that the biggest issue lies in unequal wealth distribution across the globe. That’s why the GDP is growing, but people’s standard of living (except for a minor few) is not. People directed their unhappiness at the wrong thing.

I use IPv6 exclusively for my homelab. The pros:

• No more holepunching kludge with solutions like ZeroTier or Tailscale, just open a port and you are pretty much good to go.

• The CGNAT gateway of my ISP tends to be overloaded during the holiday seasons, so using IPv6 eliminates an unstability factor for my lab.

• You have a metric sh*t ton of addressing space. I have assigned my SSH server its own IPv6 address, my web server another, my Plex server yet another, … You get the idea. The nice thing here is that even if someone knows about the address to my SSH server, they can’t discover my other servers through port scanning, as was typical in IPv4 days.

• Also, because of the sheer size of the addressing space, people simply can’t scan your network.

I’ve noticed that many Reddit users with the username format Word_Word_Number (for example Absolute_Bot_1230) are almost guaranteed to either be a bot or extremely inflammatory – it’s like everything they post is meant to generate controversies.

Probably not wrong. But it’s a double edged sword, if Tachiyomi wasn’t hosted on Github it’s likely that it wouldn’t have gotten this far.

It’s harder for other devs to discover your project when you use the other Git forges (e.g. Gitlab).

Tell me you haven’t seen people adamantly defending IPv4 without telling me so…

Good luck getting a block of IP addresses from your regional internet registry for this community ISP… IP address exhaustion is just that, no more addresses. That’s why we are sharing them.

We do have a solution and it’s called IPv6, but its deployment is still not as widespread as people would like to be. If I self-host my website on IPv6, a lot of people from Europe would still be unable to access it.

That’s pretty much just pushing the centralization from Google, AWS etc to the hosting services.

It’s pretty difficult nowadays to self-host websites when everyone and their nanny shares a single public IP address (IPv4 address exhaustion is real, everyone!) unless you purchase a hosting service.

It gets less funny if 80% of the comments are missing the sarcasm/joke though. It can happen even when the sarcastic remark is obvious (usually because the first reply took it seriously, which set the trend for the subsequent discussions)

That’s why I put a /joke or /s mark preemptively in my comments.

You might hate the /s, but it’s really easy for peolple to miss the sarcasm (no matter how obvious it is!) when everything is in text.

I don’t really care about Apple itself, but rather how they can screw over everyone with shitty practices and people will still defend them.

You are literally suggesting how you have fixed (or rather, worked around) the issue… by suggesting another much more expensive solution. Pretty much just like the other comments I mentioned before, except that they were suggesting wireless headphones, or buying dongles, or any of that jazz.

I just want to charge my phone while I’m wearing my headphones, without having to buy any external dongles or gasp external DACs.

Apple set a terrible precedent for other phone manufacturers by removing the headphone jacks, they showed how they can screw over customers and people will still sing praises for them, it’s baffling because it’s a blatant attempt by Apple to promote their own wireless headphones!

Although it’s been better now in the Android world, but there was once when those companies touted “lack of 3.5mm” as a feature.

I feel like there’s already a significant downgrade in content quality since the blackout.

The subs I frequent seem… dead. Posts would regularly get 200+ karma before the blackout, but now even the top ones get only 100+, the rest hover around single digits. Mostly shallow discussions / simple topics that I simply don’t have the urge to engage in.

And those subs that don’t seem “dead”, are being filled by bots (obvious to see because they are very, very enthusiastic about everything lol)…

Ah, I misunderstood your original comment, oops! But yes, IPv6 packets are routed just like IPv4 ones, just without the NAT’ing process i.e. the packet remains untouched the entire trip.

Really? Back on Reddit, every time I said something about Apple, I get at least 5 comments saying how “that isn’t a problem”, “lol you have no idea” and things like that.

Especially the head. phone. jacks. Oh my, the mental gymnastics were unforgettable.
