Awesome that’s good to hear, all my LEDs and stuff I have blocked to everything but HA at my firewall but some devices like my smart vacuum apparently NEED internet access to work at all which I was hoping it didn’t. My current doorbell needs it I think but hoping to get a new doorbell and camera when I move next year.

Are you able to have it blocked or limited from the greater internet and just comm with HA or does it need that as well.

Here’s mine, slowly been simplifying it. Now just have mushroom cards, hue like light cards and mini media player to control my most used devices. Plus I rent so don’t have a smart thermostat or other rain or garage sensors.

Do they have a wireless one? I’ve only ever seen wired options but don’t know their product line super well

I got an atom echo 2 months ago and was so happy when the wale word was added as before having to press the button and having it tethered defeated the purpose in my opinion.

Using the echo I make sure it’s in the same room as me (on a USB portable charger) and I get maybe a second or two delay. My issue has been setting up custom sentences to control a media player volume, followed their example in the docs for a media player but no errors and no action.

I also have a handful of athom smart plugs but I went the ESPHome firmware route directly from their shop. Just connected to WiFi and HA picked them up immediately.

Been using it for the last few weeks as a way to easily share links or screenshots between PCs and my phone so I don’t have to log both devices into SMB, mostly an issue for my work laptop.

I haven’t dug into their policies or checked network traffic but I have a b0bsweep per hair slam and while I don’t believe it works with HA it maps my main floor and I was able to block it from public egress and put it on my subnet with DNS capture and filtering to a pihole and it has never once complained. Open the app and change a setting or click go and it does it. Haven’t tried adding it to HA yet because of that.

Yes the latest July release allows for voice assist over HTTP and internal access.

And HA blog has a post with a $13 mic which I bought and works but it needs to be plugged in and press a button to activate so rather limiting.

I use kavita and kavitaEmail as well and haven’t had issues. I like the email service so I can send a book to my kindle when I want to start it.

I subscribe to the releases notifications for repos on GitHub since they include changlog information so I can know if I need to run a full backup and verify or just update the patch release.

Otherwise I just do weekly system/container updates for Linux and then unraid.
