I’m old school 1024x768 for life
I’m an American who lived in England for a couple of years. Due to American media the majority of everyone understood what I meant when I said things like soccer, trunk or hood of a car, fries, etc. Words with different meanings between the two could get confusing like biscuit, chips, or pissed.
Since soccer doesn’t have another meaning I never ran into someone who didn’t know what I was talking about. However, when saying football in an American accent some thought I was referring to American Football by default.
I can only remember one instant where someone did not know what I was talking about. That was when I asked someone at work where the dumpster was and I got a blank stare. I explained, the big metal thing outside for trash and they were like, “oh the skip”
It doesn’t appear to be there anymore, but I remember reading Dave Grohl’s wikipedia page and there was a controversy section and it just talked about the DUI he got on a scooter.

Problem solved
That’s why I have multiple accounts on platforms. One for professional stuff and one for personal.
When used as a noun a fart refers to “an expulsion of intestinal gas1” or “An emission of wind from the anus; an instance of breaking wind2”. So, I would say no it is not because it is defined as leaving the body. While in the body it is flatus which is gas in or from the stomach or intestines.

You just made this 42 year old dad groan and giggle at the same time. Congratulations!
Must change every 90 days
It has been 6 years since NIST told companies to stop doing this. And I’d be willing to bet there are more companies still mandating this than ones that don’t.
This guy sounds like a text book narcissist. The worst thing you can do is tell a narcissist they are a narcissist. It will do nothing and will only make them double down. The best thing you can do is cut them out of your life.
I had a similar situation when I was in my 20s. Friend I had that I’ve known since highschool would always make remarks about how I got so lucky with my job. Because I was making decent money (more than him) without a degree and he was an engineer. It didn’t matter that I worked my ass off and put in thousands of hours, I was lucky.
If I would ever push back or say something he would just double down. I couldn’t bring up the fact that I didn’t have parents that paid for everything while I was in school, so I had to work and go to college at the same time. I finally realized that was just the way he was going to be, so I limited contact with him. However, his comments never went as far as what you are describing. So, I think you’re doing the right thing by just blocking him.
I highly recommend reading the book Emotional Vampires. It teaches you about the different personality types you’ll run into in the working world and how to deal with each type (when you can’t just avoid them). I wish I had read it 20 years ago.
There are dozens of us!
But seriously, I think we had one of the most interesting technological evolution of any generation. Going from using the Dewey decimal system and encyclopedias early on, to using the internet before graduating.
This was in the 90s. All cars were pretty much crap.
My wife has been dealing with a lot of sleep paralysis lately. The other night she just told her sleep paralysis demon, “I’m too damn tired to deal with you right now.” And just went back to sleep.
I worked at a pizza place in highschool and one of our delivery drivers was an elderly guy who drove your typical delivery driver beat up old Honda Civic type car. He was a super nice guy, but never talked much about himself. Then one day he shows up to work in a Maserati because apparently his Civic wouldn’t start. Turns out he was a crew member with freaking Jacques Cousteau and was very wealthy. He just delivered pizza for something to do and because he liked meeting new people.
He eventually sold the Maserati to one of my coworkers for a couple of thousand of dollars because it needed a new fuel pump and he didn’t feel like dealing with it. Yet, he kept that sun bleached Civic for as long as I worked there.
Or better yet, “emo is just country music for the suburbs”
My first exposure to Takeshi’s Castle was when I was in the US military and stationed in England in the early 2000s. I worked night shift and our shop has this old TV that only picked up a few stations. One of which was a German station that showed nothing but Takeshi’s Castle and 900 number commercials. So, we spent our nights watching a insane Japanese game show subtitled in German with a bunch of commercials with topless women.
The only thing I can even think is some super fucked up case of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. That or just pure evil.
In this case your family comes first
This is a great point. I’ve already decided to get out of Texas because of my family. For the longest time I refused to move because I felt like that was giving up. Especially since my district was pretty well split 50/50. However, the things that have happened over the last year have made me loss all hope. And there is no way in hell am I raising my daughter in a state that would put a bounty on her reproductive rights. What type of parent would I be if I didn’t do what was best for them?
Sincerely, thanks. I think I just needed to hear someone else say what you said.
And I thought I was a hardened criminal for sticking a bunch of beets in the mayor’s fridge.
