  • Trivializing is taking very real and major struggles that certain humans experience to much greater degree than others and pretending it has the same gravity as minor annoyances that a wide range of people experience.

If your comment is a joke or otherwise intended to be lighthearted, I apologize, but people saying in earnest what you said is a pretty major pet peeve of mine.

Real “Chronic depression doesn’t exist because everyone feels sad sometimes” energy.

Just like a sword is protective against another sword, a gun is protective against another gun.

Someone swings a sword at you? Simply parry the blade.

Someone shoots at you? Simply shoot the bullets out of the air.

Nah, but the honest response is that guns are relatively commonly referred to as ‘protection’ (at least where I am) and I thought the word bit would be funny here, and also because it was my first thought. For what it’s worth, I agree with you that guns aren’t protective as a whole.

Pre edit: Spoilers for FF legend II.

Edit 2 electric boogaloo: We got spoiler tags up in here!

    spoiler

FF Legend II is a fucking crazy game. If you get a game over, you meet Odin, and he makes a deal with you to bring you back if you promise to fight him later on.

Well sure enough, you gotta fight him, and after you win, there’s no option to come back on a gameover, cause you killed the dude who brings you back. It’s just the option to reload a save after that.

Not sure if I’ve ever seen a game before or after that with that kind of mechanics change on a boss kill.

  • Hover zoom took me a bit to get used to, and what helped a lot was dialing in the “Trigger Delay”, and making thumbnail size as small as possible while still being the number across that I wanted (ie: in rows of 4, but on the small side) so there’s extra dead space between images for my mouse so I don’t accidentally hover zoom.

tags in metadata would be a great feature for sure, and for downloads I’ve resigned to only limiting it to artist and character/copyright info via folders. There’s a couple other scripts floating around on the e6 forums that may or may not play well with it, so you may be able to find some kind of metadata script to use along side it.

  • No prob. Dunno what you’re looking for specifically in a desktop client, but re621 has a really incredible amount of functionality. It has basically everything I wanted that the site lacks, and has a ton of extra stuff that I didn’t even consider, but absolutely love. Couple of game changing features:

    • “subscribe” to tags/artists (receive a notification and a dropdown box of new images from tags you mark)

    • thumbnail size and quality tweaking

    • hover zoom (hover mouse over a thumbnail for a customizable time and it’ll show a large scale image) and the ability to favorite images from the thumbnail.

    Can’t recommend it enough honestly.

  • It seems pipedlinkbot has threatened a logic loop on me.

If I see a guilty gear reference, I post the youtube video, but it will respond with the piped link, which is itself a guilty gear reference, and therefor I must post the youtube video, and the cycle would repeat.

    Why u do dis, pipedlinkbot?

  • lol I worked at a professional theatre for 5 years (and theatres in general for way longer) and you seem like you’re more well versed than I am.

Interesting point about Les Mis and Phantom. I enjoyed Les Mis the last time I saw it, but that was ages ago, during a time that I also liked Phantom (I still like a few songs in phantom, but hoo boy there’s a lot of grossly problematic themes in it). Phantom with a high budget can be a blast to watch though, from a technical standpoint. I saw it once in Las Vegas. The chandelier was in 3 pieces hanging above the audience seating, and it slowly lit up and came together above the stage during the overture. It was fucking crazy to see. (awful audio warning: I found a terrible quality video on youtube!)

Haven’t seen Wicked, Cats or Hamilton (or basically any broadway show. I’m a heretic, I know lol), so I can’t comment on those. I haven’t seen Evil dead: the Musical, but I’ve wanted to for ages. I’m big on Horror movies, and the Evil Dead movies are all wild.

I’m glad you mentioned Moulin Rouge. That movie is so fucking incredible. El Tango De Roxanne has lived rent free in my head since I first saw it and I’m honestly so glad about it.

As for recommendations to check out:

    • Sweeney Todd. The 2007 movie with Johnny Depp is great (and very bloody) but I’ve seen a few renditions of it live and it’s honestly always a great show. Checks a lot of boxes for me (good tunes, dystopian, and a surprisingly heavy story given that the theme is often horror-comedy-esqe).

    • Urinetown. Been a while since I’ve seen it, but it’s a great satirical musical (it makes jabs at a ton of stuff, but it’s mostly aimed at capitalism in general).

    • Little Shop of Horrors. This one has a special place in my heart because it’s the first musical I worked on in highschool that I actually enjoyed. Not much to say, it’s just a fun show.
