For all the reasons others have already stated, what you want is a Kill A Watt instead of a multimeter or another thing to buy. Plug this thing into the wall and then plug your appliances etc into the meter and leave it for a week. I will record total power draw over the duration so you can see exactly how much power is being used under normal operating conditions. With a little bit of math you can compare kilowatt hours consumed with your power company costs and figure out how much money it cost to use TV’s etc per hour.

From experience: sodium percarbonate. This is the active ingredient in oxy-clean powders and can be purchased online. In it’s pure form it’s commonly used as a sterilizing cleaner for brewing and bottling equipment. I’ve been using it in laundry for 10 years.

I find it’s the opposite: engines are so biased toward new content that older but still useful (or crucial) results are buried. I feel like an archeologist some days, carefully digging through the strata to find ancient hidden treasure.

Firms planning for an IPO go quiet, ie stop releasing financial info etc, in the four weeks leading up to the IPO per SEC rules. The purpose is to give all prospective buyers an equal amount of time to research an equal amount of information. Sometimes the firm backs out or delays the IPO if buyers aren’t satisfied, so going quiet leads to all sorts of speculation along the lines of “will they do it this time?” We’ve all seen this before with reddit. It feels like old news because it’s not the first time, but it’s the most recent time so here we are talking about it again.

I didn’t realize the LED was no longer ubiquitous! I rely on mine, and I take it a step further with missed notification reminder for a repeating audio tone every few minutes. I don’t like having to stare at my phone all day long looking for work messages.

Agreed, I had largely the same usage behavior as you. Blocking dozens of meme communities managed to filter out most of the junk but substantive topics and discussions are still rare. While things seem to be decelerating lately, I’ll be sticking around in the hope that over time the sort of thing we’re looking for grows.

What does that make me?

Something like this should do well as long as one doesn’t mind looking like an urban granny.

If the paid API wasn’t rolled out as a complete trainwreck I’d probably be paying. And probably wouldn’t be here, too.

Relay was my app for 12 years so I wish him well with this but I’m not planning on going back to using it or reddit.

As a long time relay user but not an Apollo user, my impression from reading all the drama of early June was Apollo had a lot more features than I had seen before, and that was what set it apart from other clients. More features means more API calls, generally.

As an example, I had relay poll for PM once an hour, but I remember seeing Apollo was doing it every few minutes or maybe alongside thread views so notifications were more immediate. The user experience would be better but at the expense of far more API hits.

Wow. I read through most of the pages. What a convoluted system! Besides several new terms that are interdependent and poorly defined, this scheme is going to be impossibly opaque to users and orders of magnitude more complex than upvote/downvote. I especially don’t like that points are directly related to karma, when karma whoring and botting are prevalent. Last thing we need is karma earning one some measure of influence or control in a community.

They clearly think this is something people will simply get used to should they not enthusiastically embrace it. Why they think that in an era of other platforms dumbing down interaction to nothing more than an upvote I can’t wrap my head around.

What a colossal waste of resources. Thankfully it appears to be opt in by sub for now, though I doubt that will last.

If your engine is working very poorly. Unburned fuel in your exhaust is a problem large enough that you’ll probably be experiencing a lot of engine trouble.
