Unfortunately we live in a timeline where both are true. Windows is bloated trash (that can be tweaked), Mac is a buggy mess with a lack of grid windows (which can also be tweaked).
I really don’t think anyone can generally say that one is better than the other anymore. It really comes down to the individual use case.
That may have been true in the past but these days Windows is bloated trash and has been for a while. I jumped ship when I started getting ads on my lock screen.
More like Augmented Reality. Where you put on a headset but it’s completely transparent and you are grateful there is nothing blocking your view.
Or in the case of Virtual Reality, you put on a headset and you see a pixel perfect recreation of the world right outside of your headset and it blows your mind. Because you have this instrument that is literally able to place you into any fantasy world and you realize that you are happy to stay exactly where you are.
Yeah! I’m trying to use words to describe the teleportation of consciousness from a typically negative headspace into a joyful one.
Thank you! I’ve also only had a few of these moments in my life. Last night I was laying in bed with my toddler. As he was drifting off to sleep, I closed my eyes and visualized a super cozy, quiet evening. I could hear his cute little breathing, and feel his warm little body against mine and when I opened my eyes I was exactly where I wanted to be. I am so grateful for my son.

Is this a reference to an ad or something? Lol I’m out of the loop!
I think you misunderstood the person above you. The servers are owned by someone, but the Fediverse as a whole isn’t. You’re both saying the same thing ☺️
Information wants to be fast and free. Corporations want information paywalled. It’s a fact that streaming is faster and more convenient than downloading and storing. Until we live in a society where anything is accessible to anyone at any time… both methods will need to exist, otherwise information will be lost.

The utopian city of Atlantis sunk due to bidet overuse.
All of life involves doing things to pass the time. What makes video games (and all hobbies) different is that you do it voluntarily because you enjoy it.
I too have a job that I like very much (love is a strong word for a place of employment because if I didn’t have bills I wouldn’t be working let’s be real). I also have a home that I am happy in, a loving partner and a young son.
I achieved most of these things thanks to video games. They got me interested in computers which led to a lucrative career in technology. They helped me unwind after countless long days of work which kept me from losing my mind. They led to life long friendships due to the shared common interest. I was able to pick up my wife thanks to what I learned from Leisure Suit Larry, etc.
I guess what I’m saying is a healthy relationship with any hobby can be good, or bad when taken to an extreme.
Different users would see unique ads. So your ad could be 12 seconds long while my ad is 30 seconds long. A timestamp based skip would no longer work universally.
