Afaik they are not really running a profit yet, just expanding, so that’s an eye opener to how expensive it is to run a search business and how much value Google and others estimate they get from your personal information.

For now though their user base seems fairly much leaning towards business users that can defend this expense as part of becoming more effective professionally. Hopefully over time they’ll grow large enough to provide cheaper plans for regular persons while staying privacy focused and ad free.

Yeah there are some good solutions to achieve this, I’m a big fan of the libredirect project, but currently I’m just setting up the redirects I want directly in Kagi so any URLs in the search results are already rewritten to my liking.

It’s not, really, I switched from Google some years ago and had accepted my faith with DuckDuckGo, but then tried out Kagi. I use search so much daily for work, the relief of getting quality results again is immense and probably saves me hours per week. I get much better results from Kagi than I got at the end from Google, and I can tune them to my liking:

• block Pinterest results when I search for images,
• downprioritize shopping results,
• rewrite all Reddit links to go to old.reddit.com,
• unamp google AMP links
• summarize long texts / documents
• quick answer from the top 5 results

…and so on and so on. It’s just so effective.

For importing movies: two ways, depending on the state of your existing media.

1. Point Radarr to your media. It might detect everything. Radarr will let you set rules for file name and structure. Follow jellyfin guidelines. Then let Radarr reorganize your files to the new structure. Then import to Jellyfin
2. If it’s very disorganized, you might have to organize it according to the jellyfin guides yourself, or script it if you can, before importing to jellyfin.

Put a little salt in it! It helps a lot especially with the cheaper brands.

The source information and structure of the media types can be quite different, you can’t just add books to sonarr for example. It’s often better with niche tools that to one thing well than some huge bloated software that does everything poorly.

lol that’s funny, didn’t know that was the cause for the latest LastPass breach. I just noped tf out of LastPass after that without looking back.

No I was just referring to their breach in August 2022 where I guess I was annoyed that they didn’t just invalidate/reset everyone’s password immediately. Instead, everyone had to try do to it on their servers, which couldn’t handle the traffic, so then a lot were either unable to reset password, unable to set new one, unable to reclaim server etc.

Also, when trying to calm us with mentioning everything they didn’t think was affected by the breach, it just made me realize that I’m done letting a company like Plex have all that data available to me.

Finally, they have to my knowledge still not acknowledged how the breach took place, just that they have taken steps to avoid it in the future.

From my experience, their communication about the last security breach was slow, lackluster and left me wanting. End result was that I did no longer trust them. In reality I may have been biased and already subconsciously made up my mind about their trustworthiness. Everyone have to make their own opinion and decisions.

Why I am not using Plex:

• It kept adding its own menu items / sections to my home screen with its shilled content like some annoying TV streams etc. Ever so often after updates etc it would keep adding it back
• It phones home
• Their servers has been hacked at least two times
• They dealt poorly with the hacks so I don’t trust them to know anything about my content or usage

Their last hack was the straw for me. I have a lifetime Plex Pass. I still refuse to use Plex anymore.
