I’m on a drug that costs even more than that. The whole process is bizarre, and appears to be scams all the way down.

What happens for me is that my insurance covers a big chunk of it, which still leaves me with a bill for thousands of dollars. But the drug manufacturer provides me with a card that covers that amount. So the whole thing costs me $5 out of pocket.

The aim seems to be inflating the drug prices to an insane degree to extract more money from the insurance companies. Who then fleece my employer for more money. Who then pay me less, as the insurance is such a huge benefit. And I can’t afford to lose that insurance, so they have a captive employee. And I’m supposed to marvel at all the money I saved.

Generally the people I meet from such countries are here because they’re liberals. So of course I’m going to hear liberal takes from them.

Sadly I do not know many nationals of these countries. My best friend in University had a Chinese girlfriend though. The relationship really didn’t work out because she was so eager to return home, and he wanted to stay in the west. Sample size of 1, so pretty meaningless, but it’s all I’ve got for empirical anecdotes.

And they have the absolute gall to blather on about how communism kills. The propaganda is infuriating.

When you were starting out, you were the inexperienced person. You do indeed make more money with experience, but that has NOTHING to do with the chart. It shows averages today and fifty years ago. Your commentary on it implies that the workplace has somehow become inexperienced in that fifty years, which is patently absurd. Workers are simply paid less today, regardless of experience level.

I think the real reason Russia invaded was because they could not tolerate Ukraine joining NATO. The US wouldn’t do anything different if this had happened in Canada during the cold war. Hell, they invaded Cuba for this. I’m sympathetic to Russia on this one because I do NOT want a unipolar world.

A Jewish leader does not mean that Ukraine is not dangerously far right wing. It’s like saying racism is defeated in the US because it had a black president. As for bombing Ukraine? Look up Ukraine’s cluster bomb usage in 2014-2022. When your soldiers are using weapons that are banned in most of the world on your own citizens, and your soldiers are wearing skulls on their uniforms, you surely have to ask if you’re the baddies?

Glad you read it! I’m sitting at the airport right now, so I’m going to hope someone else talks about it further with you. There’s plenty of reasonable people here. I want to clarify first though that I think most (all?) people here are not big fans of modern Russia or the war. I think the best result for all involved at this point is a swift Russian victory, but the best result would have been NATO minding its own business or working to broker peace instead of instigating.
