Yeah but s lot of those are self serving right wing ideals, for some reason everyone ignored this and just assumed the old revolution was ongoing. I guess like people who still talk about Russia as communist

It is funny to see how wild people get when someone points out an article about China is bad or a headline is deceptive, if the article was about Ukraine or somewhere doing the same thing then then the only comment you’d see is ‘bad headline!’ followed by endless nuance.
A lot of people don’t like their binary thinking and simplistic worldview tainted.
I never understand these posts, I get the excuse of ‘but it upsets putin’ because he’ll off course be annoyed when doing his morning lemmy scroll but I don’t get the message.
Putin is not gay or trans, the problem with him isn’t that he’s secretly queer his psychological issues stem from him being hyper masculine and deeply hetero. I understand the picture from the perspective of a Russian putin hater who is also homophobic but I don’t understand why I see it posted endlessly in more leftwing and progressive spaces
Putting the pieces in a puzzle is an action, sliding blocks is an action, moving in maze is an action, every game is action.
We wouldn’t play a game that wasn’t exciting or interesting to us so they’re all adventures too. If there’s more than one player or a time limit of any kind it’s a race, we by definition are controlling a character and playing its role so everything is an RPG…
Yeah and all the communist states are super ecologically friendly, oh no you don’t belive they are communist do you? Handy.
But let’s imagine a perfectly communist society, are workers all able to heat their house? Able to travel freely? Enjoy hobbies? If you answered yes to these then your either going to need magic or energy.
You can’t just pretend capitalism is responsible for everything bad, unchecked consumption can happen in any system as can over production, ecological destruction, and all sorts of potential problems. I would love to transition to a decent type of communism but I’m not going to pretend it’ll fix the climate on its own.
Yeah that would be a good story and support some preconceived notions but Mecca has always been incredibly hot, you can’t just rewrite history to suit the message you want to send.
I know it’s difficult but you don’t speak for everyone that isn’t straight, you don’t get to decide what the whole group thinks.
Having sex with people of the same gender is not a political position, sexuality does not determine political and moral views. Plenty of gay people have political and moral perspectives which differ from your own and they are still valid in their sexuality.
Pride should be for everyone who wants to celebrate LGBT, it’s not a political party. Yes that means people you don’t agree with politically get to celebrate too.
Our prisoners: bad, evil, guilty
Their prisoners: heroic, moral, innocent.
So just like in America the left felt too moral and special to vote pragmatically so we end up with hard right then the hard left complain and take no responsibility.
OK but putting that aside can we agree his other point is totally valid, prople in this thread using it to attack all China or all chinese are absurd, awful, and immoral?
They don’t know anything about China’s government or its history, they’re simply combining their hate of capitalism with their hate of China - they’ve picked up a few wesponized talking points to allow them to talk like they know everything because admitting the whole thing is super complex and confusing makes them feel scared and lost in this big old world.
It’s also racism, communism and capitalism are western ideologies so they consider them valid, Chinese principles and reforms are foreign and worthless in their eyes - they simply can’t accept that they’re not playing the western way, the idea of a third thing is incomprehensible to them. It’s the same with Chinese tech, people want to belive all they can do is copy the west, I think partly it just feels weird trying to accept that even in some small way people are ahead of us.
Their electric cars for example are presented as a rudimentary version of American ev but the reality is they’re a product very well suited to China’s integrated transport network which allows easy and affordable train travel for long distance and commuter transit. Small last-mile and runaround focused EV works in China because that’s how they planned for their transit system to work, they’re flowing a series of five year plans which lay out the shape and direction of their economy with the goal of benefitting the people. It’s a centrally planned economy working through a complex series of committees and congresses. Of course that’s communism, anyone that says it isn’t is just being weird.
What gets me about the mentality is that they blame capitalism for everything they don’t like and somehow imagine that none of those things would exist in a different system - it feels like they’ve never really thought about the reality of any other system.
Why would people living under true real communism not want a pretty waterfall? Do workers stop wanting a nice day out when their employer is state run?
Unfortunately lemmy is by and large pretty racist, and totally unable to handle any form of nuance. I don’t really know why people who consider themselves heroicly leftwing are like this but I think it’s because complexity is uncomfortable compared to just deciding you know it all and biewing the world as divided into teams of good vs evil.
You mean you’ve already decided before reading it because your opinion isn’t based on reality but a hunt for reasons to hate Biden
It’s funny how often in these threads people mask off with their antisemitism so clearly
I agree, either floating stuff into neighboring countries is fine or it’s not.
‘Oh we were sending illegal stuff into your country but it’s OK because we’re the good guys’ is something both sides would say so our media supporting one and deriding the other is silly - and yes they both say they’re sending good things and the enemy is sending bad things.
So a British kid got paid by the Russians to burn down a Ukrainian businessmans warehouse? That’s pretty dumb, and kinda scary. Is this going to be the start of freelance darkweb mercenaries paid by belligerent states to sabotage their home country? I hope not because the added security they’d bring in to try and stop it would make life much harder for all of us.
Yes they go there snd do nothing but look at the view, totally believable!
But yes the only option is to ruin it for everyone, honestly that does seem to be the predominant thinking these days
Lemmy gets very capitalist right wing when it’s about denying other people small pleasures.
To answer your questipn - With the money used to build the ugly wall, money brought in by tourists, maybe have a little event to raise funding… endless possibilities.
The thought process ‘other people are stealing pleasure only I deserve’ is pure capitalist brainrot. We should all be working together to make life better, when someone in the countryside uses the internet or a modern tractor that can only happen because of people in cities and all the systems that make those jobs possible, we should acknowledge this and the burden modern living puts on our souls - we should want to help our fellow humans enjoy life where they can by making it easy to enjoy the world not section it off and put a big screen to stop people enjoying it
So if someone made a photoshop of him in blackface with racist iconography and he didn’t like it you’d post it everywhere? ‘Look at putin depicted as a disgusting stupid black guy! It sure is humiliating for him to be associated with terrible things like black people!’
And yes I know it’s tempting to write off things like this with ‘it’s not complex bro, I just do what I feel like and it’s OK because in my heart it’s a progressive act of kindness!’ but life isn’t so simple, actions have unintended and unconsidered implications.
There’s so many reasons to laugh at putin, even if he was gay it wouldn’t be one of them. Assume the story that this upsets putin didn’t exist as a meme (which btw is likely nonsense anyway) what would be the point of this image? What would it convey? Just homophobia.
