Good to see people finally stop being a bunch of reactionaries about it.
Artists make art using tools. AI is a tool. Bad artists still make bad art regardless of tools.
EDIT: Getting down voted by n00bs that don’t even know a DDIM from a Euler A but call folks ‘prompters’ like it’s derogatory.
Try to remember that Reddit spent years using algorithms and dark patterns specifically designed to addict you. I say this because I struggle with the same thing. I want off Reddit but have been visiting daily since 2011 so it’s not easy.
So don’t be too hard on yourself and keep weaning yourself off the habit. It may take some time but you can do it.
This was done to you, and it’s pretty damn insidious, but it’s not a severe gambling addiction or crack cocaine so ultimately it’s low stakes. You’ll get there and good for you for trying.
The comments is where I’ve noticed it the most. Scrolling endless comments on almost any post used to be a thing, but now the comments threads are much more sparse. Feels like Lemmy over there.
Wow! Been awhile. Forgot about this guy.
This is true! In the US, I use Biotene. It’s unfortunately somewhat expensive, (I think I pay around $6/tube), but I happily fork it over for no fucking canker sores.
Whoever saved this as a jpeg instead of a png is the real crack smoker here.
You’re whistling past the graveyard if you think the online rise of tankie ideology and propaganda isn’t going to manifest itself into reality if they’re ignored and dismissed as just a bunch of revolutionary larpers.
Just want to add she’s also been active in science communication and skeptic communities for many many years. She’s a gem.
I’m not sure who that guy is, but if Rebecca Watson doesn’t like him, he’s probably a dick.
I’m going to go against the grain a little here and say you may have just grown out of it. A lot of kids have access to Chromebooks through their schools (at least in the States) and you better believe they know exactly where all the online games are.
I love good news!
Well, I use Red Reader, which is free and open source, so, bully to that.
I still visit specific subs like localllama, which is just a fantastic resource. But I never just browse Reddit anymore, the content is bad. I browse Lemmy all the time.
Also, the mobile 3rd party app I use to interact with Reddit hasn’t been shut down. If that happens, it will likely be the final nail for me.
Is that dude in the back playing air guitar?
This is a really nice update to the classic ‘New Yorker style’ cartoon, which I normally cannot stand.
It is extremely kind of you to take the time to explain since our media can’t seem to be bothered to.
