  • I didn’t even know paid lunch breaks were/are even a thing. Most jobs I’ve been in had 30 min unpaid lunch.

I work 9 to 6 with 1 hour unpaid lunch at my current job. I don’t really do anything during my lunch besides sit in the office wasting time for an hour. Home is 30 min drive away, so I can’t go home. No parks nearby to walk around. Makes it feel like I am working a 9 hour shift getting paid 8 since I am sitting in the office for 9 hours…

  • On expensive ER bills that only exist because people couldn’t afford to visit a GP five years earlier and get some cheap off the shelf preventive medicine.

A few years ago, I went to the ER because I was feeling abnormally unwell. Sat in the ER for an hour then nurse finally took me into a room. They had to leave to do something immediately after putting me in a room. Sat there for 15 minutes and realized that my body was starting to feel much better so I left.

I got a $3000 bill after insurance. The hospital declined my financial assistant application to get my bill reduced because they said I made too much money. I made $16/hr at the time in an expensive metro area. Ended up paying it off on a 3 year plan.

  • Have you ever had gluten free pastry?

Yes, I’ve had gluten-free pastries before. My friend has Celiac and can’t consume gluten due to possible intestinal damage.

He has taken me to delicious gluten-free bakeries to get ice cream cookie sandwiches, pumpkin bread, brownies, garlic parmesan bread, quiche, meat handpies, etc

Just because you had bad ones doesn’t mean they are all bad. Same goes with other food.

I mean you can choose to power through it. I’d sooner have a windy, achy gut than eat a gluten-free yum yum.

Well, if you had celiac disease, good luck living with permanent damage to your intestinal villi.

  • And it looks like Mastodon only even got full-text search very recently, like, last couple months.

Also, this only works if the user opts in to being able to be searched/indexed. It makes it much harder to find content. If you’re looking for more content from a hashtag, you’ll only see people who knew to opt in

On Twitter, anyone’s content can be searched as long as they are not private. If you search a hashtag, you’ll see every public post that uses that hashtag.

Another annoying thing with Mastodon is that you have to go to the person’s instance to fully check their profile. Annoying when you’re using a Mastodon app, then it makes you open a web browser to go to that person’s instance
