We figured just renting a car at our destination would pay for the entire trip (gas, hotels etc) and then flights on top of that (and airport parking etc)

I don’t think there are any airlines that aren’t on my no-fly list at this point. (Actually decided to do a rather long drive for this years vacation between the cost of air travel, and the nonsense)

Yeah paid YT is probably the last media subscription to go, especially with YT Music. Hours and hours of watch time probably number one thing watched by the whole family. The only problem I usually have with YT is getting “boxed in” to content, like it thinks I only like watching channel X now because I watched a video. Sometimes the entire feed is like 2 or 3 channels and it’s harder to discover something new.

(One interesting thing, if you create your own YT channels each channel has a fresh watch history and sometimes you can then build up a different set of videos on the other channels)

But…Facebook isn’t dead. I mean it’s dead to me, but it’s still going quite strong.

I get some of the criticisms of his videos, but people who have a major hate on for him kind of amuse me - like he as done more to help more people than most of us ever will and I kind of feel like most of the haters haven’t done much for anyone else themselves. Also if my kids are going to end up looking up to someone in this world, there are far far worse youtubers and influencers they could be inspired by.

I’ve personally been fascinated by the get money->give it away->get more money->Give it away content engine he’s produced.

No real way to tell, but I don’t think it would be immediately noticeable on Reddit. Like the satisfying “we killed reddit” probably isn’t going to happen. On the other hand, being here clearly have discoverd the Fediverse as replacement, so IMO it doesn’t matter what happens to Reddit now. (Not to say the drama/any issues Reddit ends up with won’t be endlessly entertaining)
