  • That seems to require a level of foresight and planning that most corporations don’t have. That’s almost like a blueprint for failure when some middle manager changes the scope of a project with a hard coded time limit, IMO.

Anyone interested in not-agile development? Maybe we can call it “Ship it when it’s ready” lol

  • The rich have problems paying just their regular owed taxes, nothing even exceptional; they draft legislation to lower their own tax rates while keeping taxes on labor the same.

Why is capital gains taxed at a lower rate than income? Is sitting on a pile of money and watching it grow somehow more noble than sweating and hard work?

I think a carbon tax is necessary but I think getting the responsible parties in our industrial world to actually pay it, would be extremely difficult. You’d never see such bipartisan cooperation in various governments until someone threatens the subsidies for the liquid black gold.

I got lucky, I bought a pair of Focal Elears on sale for like $800 and they’re so good I quit my search.

Legitimately everything just sounds amazing, well, transparent. I forget I’m wearing them and it sounds like stuff is just in the room or whatever. That’s good enough for me.

  • I’ve had a real one from a Turkish place called Gülloglö, which no longer exists, and it was incredible. It was like a block of rose water, covered in powdered sugar, and biting into it was a floral, sugary, explosion, especially combined with their harsh, dark, Turkish tea – unbelievable.

I loved that place, and no idea how they went under.

  • You’re waiting for a very specific event which is like a soft apocalypse obviating all of this bullshit work. A utopian, not dystopian change, brought upon by a rapid shift in technology which solves all of our problems and our society in one fell swoop. No more work, just peace, bliss, and vacations for everyone, like a human uplift. Maybe aliens do it. They just benevolently gift us the tech. It’s not impossible, it’s on the horizon.

Why?: It’s happened before, with the freedom and creation of the Internet, which was a huge upheaval.

We’re all technically waiting for this event. Some of us at the levers need to hurry the fuck up.

    Source: Maybe am aliens

That sounds like a relatively new feature.

The last time I tried Tinder (Tindr, straight people Grindr), it made me both give up on online dating and lose a bit of faith in humanity.

I’ve rarely been the victim of online harassment or trolling but holy hell - being an attractive woman on Tindr? Absolute win. Pretty much easy mode on any dating site in general.

Being an attractive man of the same caliber? Yeeehck. Holy shit, some people have absolutely miniscule egos and more time than proper sense. I won’t share personal incidents or examples here because I’d rather just forget and leave it all in the past.

I went right back to traditional meat-space and in-the-flesh dating. Fuck this noise about online profiles and photography. Let your neighbors find out who you are on their own terms, don’t shout it at them from the rooftops.

I ended up “settling” (not my opinion) on a girl with a golden soul that I met traditionally, through a friend of a friend. She’s not the best looker, but if the algorithm works as you say, I’d never have even met her, which is a shame. We’ve been together for eight years now, and I still adore her.

So yeah, in summary, fuck Tindr.
