Yes, but whether you have lights or just beeps depends on your board. I think yours does not have the lights, just the speaker pins.

When you have one attached and start the PC the mainboard will run some tests, and if it detects a problem there will be a pattern of beeps coming out of the speaker. You can look up what this pattern means in the handbook somebody linked above.

The UN Security Council on Monday passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, the immediate and unconditional release of hostages and “the urgent need to expand the flow” of aid into Gaza. There were 14 votes in favour with the United States abstaining.

Resolutions made by the UN security council (which this would have been) can be enforced through the UN peacekeeping mission (aka the blue helmets) by stationing UN troops along the contact line to prevent hostilities from resuming. This has had mixed success in the past, there is actually a peacekeeping mission stationed right now on the Israel/Lebanon border which hasn’t prevented either side from shooting at each other after the October 7 attack.

Oh I suppose it’s still not as bad as other places. It was free and fully financed by taxes because it was seen as a societal investment, now it’s ~300€ per semester at my university and still mostly financed through taxes. But the neoliberals sure didn’t impose that without a fight! And they would probably have set it higher if they could.

That said, according to this random X/Twitter account the IDF itself claimed two days ago to have made “over 10,000 targeted strikes” on Gaza since the beginning of the current conflict, so the casualty number given by Hamas works out to about 0.57 fatalities per strike, which doesn’t seem like that outlandish a claim to me given how densely populated Gaza is.

Well probably. After all the permanent members of the UN security council released a joint statement that nuclear war would be bad (sic) roughly two month before the invasion of Ukraine began. With the clarity of hindsight it looks a lot like everybody knew what was going to happen and they wanted to reassure each other.

If I’m understanding your question right, kind of. Pandoc is only for document conversion though, no spreadsheets, presentations, etc. But at that it can convert between a lot of formats. And git can be used to version and share those documents.

Nothing, I’d just like a nice GUI around it.

Well like uzay said, basically just an office GUI that allows me to import/export into a lot of formats and automates document versioning away.

Haha, kind of. However conversion between all these formats is lossy in some directions and I don’t know of any software that integrates version control of documents by default (not saying there are none).

Like a data format inhabiting the centre of that conversion graph they have on their website, basically a superset of the available input types, that is then version controlled by git, and can be exported to any of the output formats, in a neat frontend that removes all that complexity from me. :D

Well the problem with defeatism is that it’s a self-fullfilling prophecy. If you believe everything is lost you will not try to enact change.

Now I acknowledged already that it might well be too late, but I also maintain that there isn’t enough certainty in that prediction to base your actions around it.

So the reason to not be defeatist is twofold. There might be a chance to reverse or at least lessen the impact of climate change, and by being defeatist you are robbing yourself and future generations off that chance.

Well not with that attitude. Defeatisms doesn’t become you my friend.
