You can dress it up in whatever language you want but when nobody is able to consistently beat the market it looks a hell of a lot like gambling.

Inflation exists, you’re gambling every day on whether or not your money has the same value tomorrow, or even any value at all. Like you said, this conversation can easily break down into semantics.
I don’t disagree with the general point of, “there’s no guarantee”. But I think you can make an argument that taking the safest course available to you is not gambling.
When talking about longer time frames you have to account for inflation, holding on to your money instead of investing it is a risk in itself, which makes this entire conversation about semantics.
If you’re talking about stock picking, hard disagree. Emotion has nothing to do with it whether or not it’s gambling.
If picking stocks was anything but a gamble portfolio managers wouldn’t have such a god awful track record.
The people responsible went to jail right?
Right?
Same shit that happens with every climate protest. “Climate protestors deface painting” etc.
Ah yes, feminism, an ideology that consists solely of extremist views. I’m not even well versed in feminism and I know that Andrea Dworkin is quite extreme and is a polarizing figure.
If you have reduced feminism to the views of a single extremist than you really need to get your shit together.
Whataboutism?
Canada is on track to elect a populist conservative PM who is anti-trans, anti carbon tax and anti taxing the rich. Shit fucking sucks right now.
Is this true though? Don’t many liberals support Israel? Are there actual polls that show Biden would benefit from taking a stance against Israel? Genuinely asking.
Damn this was super informative and really well written.
But muh free market
Is it insane though
Is bar soap really considered old fashioned now?

Honestly I respect the Hermione comment. Obviously Hermione was written as white, like duh. She was expressing her support for a black-casted hermione because her race is unimportant. It was just a cheeky way of supporting the casting choice amid the backlash from racist fans.
The Dumbledore being gay thing is… idk. I think it makes sense that he can be gay but JK should have been explicit and not canonized his queerness after the fact for clout.
Obligatory fuck JK for being a TERF.
I think people are questioning the ethics of Batman more these days given how discussions around poverty and crime has changed. Given how crime is more often than not a result of poverty and a lack of social safety net than greed or lack of morals, the ethics of Batman bypassing the justice system1 and beating the shit out of henchman comes into question.
My exposure to this line of thinking was FD Signifier’s video on edge lords, but I haven’t seen other people talk about it until now.
1. the justice system also fails these people but we’ll ignore that for the sake of argument
Same thing with motion sensor sinks. There are way too many that don’t work for people with darker skin because they were only ever tested on white people.
Epitomizes white privilege for me. The white male is considered default and as a result we enjoy benefits on the daily without even realizing it. The book Invisible women does a great job pointing out many ways in which the “male default bias” (idk if thats the correct terminology) negatively effects women. Some of these are ‘trivial’, like how women’s bathrooms can serve fewer people at a time because stalls are less space efficient than urinals. So instead of giving womens bathrooms more space we just laugh at how womens bathrooms always have long lines. Many are obviously not so trivial.
Man wouldn’t it suck if America was covered in asphalt and gridlock?
I both anticipate and fear the expansion.
