  • Yeah, if anyone has “replaced” TMG, it’s Diane Cluck. She’s my shaman, and while I never used that phrasing with John, TMG got me through some dark, hard times. Diane Cluck is definitely a better overall shaman, though. I’m gonna cook our decorative balcony pumpkin before it can go bad because she suggested it. She nourishes me mind, soul, and body x_x

  • Yeah, I’ve been spending more time on Discord lately, but I’m sure not going back to reddit. Tbh I’ve really disconnected from spaces where I was/would be exposed to right wing extremists and hatred of me. Instagram obviously has it’s problems, but the algorithm won’t allow me–a trans lesbian stoner–to view hateful content without a fight. If I need to see some fringe beliefs and content, I’ll dive head first into the Hexbear pool!

  • The beans and rice in many taco bell offerings provide more nutrients than your average fast food burger or deep fried meat. The fiber and vitamins both make you feel better and more full longer. You also get spices and heat, which tend to make people feel full faster and provide some amount of nutrition. And it moves through your body faster, so you’re not bloated.

  • Zero calorie drinks and swap all your meat for beans. I’m not a femboy, but I’m a slim, healthy woman who eats Taco Bell at least once a week. It’s the only fast food I eat because it’s the only fast food with meaningful seasoning, and I can just go for beans to make it incredibly light. Taco Bell is the only fast food you should be considering when trying to lose weight.

  • Usually there’s an aspect of embodying the good things associated with your place and culture. I wasn’t allowed a sense of pride as a child and never grew to understand it. But if I did have a normal sense of pride, one might say that my love of southern food and country music and disdain for shoes was a form of southern pride. Hell, I am getting the hang of being proud to represent those things without bringing the usual baggages of southern culture. See, being born in a place or of a race isn’t just a thing that happens to you. It’s a life you live. It’s a culture that is built into your foundation. There is no going back or starting over. It’s part of you forever. And you can take inherent pride in who you are, in the things you do, in the mark you leave on the world and people around you. You can be self satisfied to have created a good life and a stable person from the culture and community in which you were raised.

  • Throw some bombs at Mississippi, kill the bulk of their leadership, and they’ll be hanging queers in a week. I have been attacked in public by an American Christian extremist; I sometimes get to fear for my life right here in the Midwest. Put these people in a state of desperation, and it’ll be a swampy theocracy in no time. America is ~250 years into running a country that was founded on not having a state religion. That’s a far cry from a theocracy founded under violent foreign interference less than a century ago, and we still have dangerous religious extremists. It’s not a matter of culture. It’s a matter of circumstance.
