Basically like most said, schools are woefully underfunded. Most often, they are mostly funded at the local level which screws them. Poor places have less money for school, thus making the cycle of poverty harder to break out of. Rich places have loads of money so intergenerational wealth persists. Medium income tend to fight any tax increase. (And if education matters to you, better to fight a tax increase and just send your kid to a private one)

Canadian here. If I call in, pick it up then yeah, about 10 is my general go to. They’re in my neighbourhood, I like them and I’ll spend more than that on an unnecessary beer without thinking.

I’ve seen a lot of good places go under, I’ll do my small part to help keep places I like in business. Admittedly, while I’m not rich a few extra bucks here and there to people busting their asses isn’t a backbreaker. (Worked in kitchens, am not a hard enough worker for that ever again. Mad respect for those who do.)

I just feel bad for y’all. Most Americans I’ve met are at least nice people who probably deserve healthcare.

The Boys, Expanse, Invincible, Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, Fleabag, Good Omens, Man in the High Tower and Reached come to mind. Admittedly, I haven’t watched a few of those.

I don’t have access to their data but my guesses are something like:

A) Money isn’t an issue for a large number of subscribers.

B) People like those specific models after stumbling onto them on reddit or whatnot. And while there are many other attractive women, the Onlyfans model is the one they like best.

C) Similar to gonewild, there’s an allure to someone ostensibly being an amateur rather than a pornstar.

D) Laziness. I imagine onlyfans really took off during the pandemic. For those who don’t really look at their credit card bills, I doubt there are other reminders.

Not processing our waste water leads to very local consequences, which is we process it. Adding to climate change is a global problem, any one country’s actions have relatively modest effects. So we don’t invest to stop it.

I’m not saying it’s a good thing. But it is a serious thing so we should be clear on the causes etc.

The reason we don’t use renewables is that fossil fuels are much cheaper.

If one country goes alone in developing them, they and their citizens pay more for a very marginal benefit.

This is a collective action problem, individual countries acting by themselves aren’t going to solve it.

It plans to open 900 new stores in the U.S. and 1,900 in some of its bigger international markets like Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and Australia. The company said it plans another 7,000 stores in other international markets; more than half of those would be in China.

Somewhat ironically, this actually seems like a result of increased living conditions in developing countries.
