I didn’t known that it was seen as a bad thing by some devs. At my company (consulting) are we saying that we failed if we spin up a full server. we do infra as code very often and that wouldn’t be as easy or possible as with serverless. It is easier to monitor what cost money (need more performance) that way too. I have seen some wish to get into the server, you don’t have to, that is the thing, all your configurations are done with in a portal like azure, the only times (extremely few) i have went into a serverless is when i have to check the apps configuration for a very old app that may have been deployed manually (get surprised every time) and i don’t know the values that need to be set and there has been times logging is done to disk instead of using application insight. But thankfully these are exceptions not the norm. It is usually applications that was a fire and forget project and have always worked until they want some new functionality.

When it doesn’t smell

All the power to those that like Amazon but I have never bought anything from Amazon and never will. I always look up the cheapest option (that is trustworthy) which Amazon never is. Plus I don’t like their business model just like I don’t like media mark (they killed of many stores by selling for huge losses for years). we want competition so we want as many stores as possible, we also want experts, so I rather go to a store that sells x type of products not x, y, z and also b like Amazon do.

Also big stores like Amazon only makes sense in the physical form, jumping between stores online isn’t physical draining.

Search with lowercase, for some reason did lemmy.world not show all the instances that blocked them only instances they blocked when L or W was in capital letters.

Yes, we only see stuff from lemmy.bullshit to the point where lemmy.world were still in sync. So we can only see lemmy.world users interactions with post from lemmy.bullshit after the defederation. The same goes for them they can’t see lemmy.world users interactions either. because what lemmy.world users are interacting with is a copy (of lemmy.bullshits original post) and isn’t sending the updates back to lemmy.bullshit and the other way around, the original isn’t updating the copy.

I want to add that to see who is blocking lemmy.world do you need to type with lowercase. I didn’t see the list of “blocked by” when I wrote lemmy with a capital l.

I would say the best with open source is that if the devs do not have time to look at your request then you can make a pr and if they won’t approve it in time then you can fork it with the fix, that is what lemmy.world did for example. I have also needed to do just that for a few packages. Also if the docs are too simplified then you can just check out the code yourself. It have helped many times.

That happened to me too the other day, I stared at it for a bit and thought it must have been part of the mass deletion ppl did. It is one thing to read about it, it is an other to see it for yourself. But I fond my answer on a wiki page so it didn’t matter much. It was amusing tho.

Same, I went from drinking from friends glass to only do so if I felt “forced” as in it would be weird if I didn’t haha And I have a “dirty” hand that can touch things and a “clean” hand that will only touch my stuff that I know is “clean”. Here is another shower thought. You touch things other ppl who don’t wash their hands touch all the time… That is worse in my opinion. Because you can wash your hands before touching anything else (belt included) it isn’t as easy to wash your hands everytime on the go. Corona made me very aware of this

Some companies makes their apps a lot better than their website and you often get more and better features from a mobile users point of view. But I also prefer the browser because I don’t want to fill my phone with apps I use only once a week or less and I can use adblocker. But it is pretty nice to be able to jump between apps instead of jumping between tabs. I have a lot of tabs open instead of downloading their app and also stuff I want to remember or pages I use often. I try to clean it up but I always have an infinity icon instead of a number for my tabs 😂 I tried using bookmarks but it is easier to find the right page as a tab (big thumbnail)

Isn’t this kind of how comments works too tho? You can tell who it is by how they write and you can see what they do care about and when they are active. I assume comments are worth more than just a up vote or down vote. So the votes could also just have been a log in the comment section “x likes this post”. It is good you said it tho so ppl know that votes aren’t anonymous.

I just want to add that it all depends on where you live. I don’t know what you mean by “most”. I would say most in cities with good bike lanes like Paris and Amsterdam would say most take the bike, or cities with great public transport like Tokyo would say most take public transport. If you live in a place like USA where it is dangerous to walk and the public transport is almost none existing then most would take the car. I think New York has ok public transport. But I don’t know, when I was there were sandy coming in so all of the subways were closed off.
