I can recall numerous comedy movies I went to where I was the first to laugh. Like a full “ha” before everyone else started laughing. I am unsure if I influenced others to laugh, I was more satisfied that I didn’t need another person to laugh to actually enjoy what I was seeing.
It wasn’t “just” the audience. Sweetening enhances the laughing - it doesn’t replace it.
I always thought of it this way. You see fun videos of sitcom outtakes, everyone is having fun on set. This means multiple takes. How hard would you imagine it is for an audience member, on the 15th take, to laugh? Sweetening.
You are partially correct. The pacing is a thing, for sure.
But if you do watch those videos there are plenty of non-joke pauses for laughs. I can recall one where one of the guys walks up to the others sitting in the cafeteria and says “hey guys”… pause for laughs. He wasn’t dressed funny, he wasn’t doing anything odd, just… “time to laugh, I guess”.
IMO, canned laughs are the tool of those that aren’t really that good at writing comedy.
Trump is probably so jealous. The two kids he wants to be best friends with are hanging out together without him. They are going to become best friends and won’t want to hang out with him anymore. So sad.

I was at a Cracker Barrel last night and among the random shit on their walls was an old checker board. The border of the board, taking the majority of the space available, was covered in ads. I guess it never changes.
That’s why film piracy slowed for a while there - when people weren’t being gouged they were happy to pay what they felt was reasonable. But now that the gouging is back… yo ho ho.

I don’t have any doubt that he “used” fame and the authority provided by celebrity to get people to agree to things that they may not have really wanted.

In their defense, they don’t see the authoritarian boot and feel compelled to lick. They see how their hated enemy, normal people, get upset because of that authoritarian boot and in response lick the shit out of it so those normal people feel sad.
Do we know this? I don’t follow the comics at all but do they ever go into the things Bruce Wayne does as CEO of Wayne Enterprises? I can’t fathom we have gone decades without someone touching on this.
