pollution. im not even talking climate change but that we continue to survive generally by polluting more. even when we do things better we just grow more and end up polluting more and eventually we will drop but we will continue by eating our own tale but the result will not be infinite.

we stopped with our grain and the wikipedia does not mention after reagan which it was late in his term and the nineties when we stopped most things. If you read to the end it mentions purchasing and giving to food banks to stabalize prices which would sorta suggest we do not have storage of it anymore but can’t be sure. As far as I know we only kept doing it for oil and gas.

I really don’t get why we ever stopped doing things like this. It just makes sense. It makes sense for any product that can be stored for a time, not having it would cause problems, and it can have spikes of use. If I can just convince corps that it would be government subsidies of warehouse storage maybe we would do it more.

chicago area here. Have seen dead dogs and cats in roads only a few times in like five decades but granted that is usually pretty close to them getting struck. Pet carcasses tend not to just lay in the road the way like a squirel one might.

im not sure if they ever happens here. They have overflow areas and those get dumped with a bunch of chlorine added. So its not totally raw but its not properly treated. They also have seperate rain water and sewer so the overflow is not sewage but they still treat it because it can still pick up all sorts of stuff from roads and surfaces and such. If the overflows don’t get overwhelmed then it gets full treatment before being let into the watershed. Which basically means enough time is given for the chlorine to work. Granted they spent a bundle for the public works to get this done and prevent flooding. Not that im complaining as that is why I like where I live. You get all this talk about folks running from the area due to high taxes but you know im fine with high taxes and a well managed watershed, public spaces, public services, and such. disclaimer. I am not a watershed expert and don’t work for the water district so this is just my understanding from the various things that pop up on it (you would be surprised the information you get if you actually read your water bill and such)
