Plex access and reads files like any other app would. If your, say, file browser can see/read the files, Plex can. So, if your encrypted drive is mounted and accessible to the rest of the system, Plex will be able to access it just fine.

ATV gang woot!

I’m still rocking a 2011 iMac for my server a a ghastly 350W. I hate it. it’s slow af, but kills it for my needs, which will hopefully last until I can afford to replace it. it’s been my server for the last 12 years… I ran a - get this - a Pentium 4 4GHz before that as my Plex server!

I’d have loved to go all 4k myself, but I just don’t have the storage capacity for it atm. plus, even with my 4K tv, I just don’t see such a huge difference between 4K and 1080. I have a small apt so I don’t have a huge tv. if I did, I’d notice I more, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it’s pretty disturbing that you think that there’s anything in common with keeping the conversations in this community relevant and the atrocities committed in Ukraine by the illegal invasion by Russia.

here’s the thing about that: it takes going to court to argue that and hoping you get a favorable ruling.

and that’s very, very expensive and you could be shut down via injunction until that happens, which could take years.

and even if the lemmy.world admin could afford hundred of thousands or millions in legal fees to win a case against the RIAA and/or MPAA, why would they want to risk it?

you’re perfectly free to discuss that elsewhere (well, in most places, that is).

in this community we discuss how to install, configure, troubleshoot, etc. Plex and plex add-ons as well as features and so on.

Where or how you acquire your content (with the exception of Plex streaming content) is irrelevant and not an appropriate subject for conversation here if it involves piracy.

uninformed opinion or not, I’d like to play it safe and ensure this community stays open and viewable to as many people as possible. I know the Plex subreddit ran into issues in the past, and I’d like to avoid them.

I tweaked it a bit

Plex requires an Internet connection for, well, several reasons. Also, how do you plan on getting media onto the server if it’s not connected to (what I assume you meant) router?

As somebody who’s been using macOS as a platform for piracy for over 20 years, I assure you it does not make it more difficult in anyway whatsoever. I’m sorry you’re having troubles, but they’re not related to the platform.

well… it’s not a good strategy if you’re lying your ass off, it happens to be true, AND you conspired with your lawyers to commit the crime you’re accused of.

now, Jack Smith (and every reasonable person on earth, the more clever dolphins, cetaceans, chimps, corvidae, octopods, and a couple of transdimentional mice) knows this is the case, so this is definitely a terrible strategy. It’s also patently Trump to blame anyone else for his own actions but himself. Predictable, even.

the “trap” is that he knows Trump will “lie” because Smith has “mountains of evidence” that Trump and his co-conspirators are “incredibly fucking guilty."
