  • Speaking from experience, it functionally ruined them, at least the early macs -exact os/model unknown- we had (school computers well behind the curve and all). They’d need to be reformatted after. It would delete, then iirc just crash and you’d reboot into errors (my memory of this is spotty, it was a very long time ago)

I used to do that in the computer lab when I was supposed to be doing typing practice. Fucking hate typing “properly”.

Note: I am not a verifiable source, this is anecdata.

Eclipses happen every year like clockwork (it basically is clockwork, but on a huge scale). Eclipse seasons are spring and fall, around the equinoxes. You could very easily fly to see a total eclipse every few years if you want to, because we know when they are going to happen and where will have totality - it’s very routine stuff. There’s literally nothing special at all about the one that just happened, except that a lot of people haven’t seen one before because it hasn’t happened -at that location- in a time.

So no, absolutely not something you’ll never get a chance to see again, tho you won’t be able if you go blind like a fucking moron.

  • Legitimately I’ve been using Plex for years and had no idea it even had vr support.

I didn’t have those hardware packs, and probably wouldn’t, but still…

I’m not really sure what I’d use it for though… is it for porn, in this case? (Serious question) I can’t think of any other media that would support it and be on plex…

But also who shares their porn library with people? That’s weird.

Edit to add: they really suck at making their integrations known… like… if they spend time and money working on it it should be listed somewhere so you know you can try it if you want to, no? Like somewhere under settings, like idk that fancy empty plugin page? That used to have stuff and doesn’t now?

  • It depends what makes you tick, and how much you care about a particular thing.

If you like learning a lot of superficial to mid-level information about a lot of things, diving too deep will naturally result in a loss of enthusiasm, and that’s ok. You only have so much energy for each thing to take.

But if you really enjoy doing a deep dive into one or two things, more extensive knowledge is the best reward for the effort, so it’s a self-reinforcing cycle.

I’ll never be the latter person. I’ll never know all the lore for anything, or know every model of machine or whatever. That’s not what makes me tick. I do tend to get bored when I know too much about a thing and learning more means engaging other people’s thoughts (books/media), or using math, or whatever boundary I don’t feel like crossing. But that’s ok, my enjoyment is from knowing a lot about a lot, not from knowing everything about a few things. Both are good and valid.

  • My bedroom media pc (old-ass enterprise tower) has 8 on the back and 5 on the front. So 13 usb ports. It doesn’t have any wireless anything, physical ports only, and there’s no room to add internal cards for it, but plenty of usb ports for dongles!

I use 3 of those ports at most (I use Ethernet, since it’s my acquisition machine, or it’d be 4), and 2 are for keyboards and mice (one handheld with touchpad, the other a normal set).

I’m struggling to even come up with 7 things that would all need to be plugged in together… I guess webcam, mouse and keyboard if they can’t run off a single port, and headset maybe if you got one that bypasses the audio jacks for whatever reason… but that’s still only 4.

  • The most logical answer to this that I’ve come across is production value.

There is a lot of porn out there, and a lot of it is not very good quality for one reason or another. Now go back a decade or more, and remember it was worse then.

Niche fetish porn, however, was typically pretty high quality because that’s what people were paying good money for. It never started out as free.

Because you can, if needed, just skip the talking bit to ignore the incestuous plot lines, it’s basically just straight vanilla porn, that was what people went looking for. It was the closest to vanilla you could get with the high production quality of fetish studios.

Not understanding the why, production companies saw the spike in that specific result and started making more of it, then it started getting memed, and here we are.

Idk if it’s true, but it makes the most sense to me, considering when it started to gain popularity.

  • I went through this process once.

Submitted my details, they contacted me to set up an “interview” over telegram (a program I didn’t have and downloaded just to see what would happen, I knew it was a scam by that point)

So I went into it, they ask some generic questions they don’t take enough time to read (and filling them with nonsense doesn’t matter) and at the end they ask for a photocopy of your id and social security card (much like a real job, which is a problem in and of itself) and send to some shady email created with that company name @hotmail or some shit.

The company itself was real, the job posting was real, but the job posting was 3 years old, and I had to call the company to verify it wasn’t theirs. I also provided them with the posting link so they could follow up with indeed if they wanted to.

It’s not very elegant, but I guess desperate people don’t really do to much thinking about it…
