Why is the beginning of each word in bold? Is there something wrong with OP’s browser or the screeenshotted website?
It sure makes it slower to type I don’t like it.
It’s almost surely an automated script for articles when they’re posted. The writer isn’t doing it directly.
That’s pretty cool. It does feel easier to read, but I can’t tell if that’s placebo or a real effect.

It most likely is a real effect as using bionic reading can make it a lot easier to read things, at first it takes some getting used to but sometimes people prefer it straight away after trying it once.
It keeps making me look for a hidden message.
That, or like trying to read one of those “don’t dead open inside” signs…
It is actually called bionic reading (or font) it’s designed to make you read better and quicker, by guiding the eyes on to the next word.
Its more confusing and distracting than anything else in my experience
