There’s 0 value for human life in my country. Police are so over worked. With a country with that amount of population you would expect there would be more job openings. Courts are over whelmed with cases, almost all govt offices are understaffed. And then there’s corruption in every stage.

These religious gatherings take insane amounts of donations but never hire any private security to manage these events. Its just one or two constables at the entry or parking spot, that’s all. It amazes me how the common folk do not get offended by the lack of such essential security process.

Also be sure that this won’t be on the news more than a few minutes. Very bad reputation for their investor the honorable prime minister mudixi. No accountability will be taken by anyone. 120 lives just gone like nothing.

This is a very myopic and hateful comment, man. People died because of poor crowd control (something that happens at non-religious gatherings too, by the way) and your first instinct is to use terms like “stupid” in relation to these people’s religion. In states where religion is a protected attribute, saying something like this aloud to their families would quite literally be considered harrassment and discrimination.

It is not yet clear what led to the crush. Witnesses said the exit was too narrow and when people were leaving, a fierce dust storm led to confusion and panic, causing many people to become trampled.

You are literally a mod here, so I shouldn’t need to quote this at you but:

Community Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.

Emphasis mine. Quite disappointed to see this, dude. Come on.

I thought lemmy didn’t have these type of edgy atheists at least not on random communities. Saw similar comments in a post about the heat wave killing hajj pilgrims in a climate change related community.

Mods here are very quick. It’s really up to the mods on lemmy. Thanks mods for keeping the community safe and healthy.

Jesus, your perspective is just toxic and hateful. How is this any different than any other incident where people are trampled (see: Travis Scott)? Why is religion at fault here suddenly? Or is this an objective reason that you are a fool for liking Travis Scott?

I grew up religious, and I’ve distanced myself from spirituality for the better part of a decade now, so I’ve played both roles at different times in my life. Even so far removed, though, I can still objectively acknowledge that religion has played a critical role in human evolution and history. It’s not wrong for people to want to want answers about the universe and life, and the human experience is built around community. Religion can, for many people, provide for those needs, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Look, I acknowledge that religion is responsible for, or at least a justification of, a lot of human suffering. That is true of lot of human institutions - we are deeply flawed beings. I would also say, however, that in saying those things, you are adhering to your ideology and casting vitriol with the same fervor that a hyper-religious person would.

Please just try empathy next time. Such hateful statements do nothing to change minds, and are more likely to push people away from looking deeper at religion and objectively examining if it’s actually good for them as an individual.

It’s tragic, but it says something. There’s two realities of the belief. Either the gods didn’t notice or care, or they’re Travis Scotts.

Or, they don’t exist. But that’s crazy.
