I was just browsing a thread on c/nfl looking for new mods. There were multiple 12+ year Redditors there offering to help.

Got me wondering. There are 14,000 of us in this community. How many of us are ten year plus users who have just had enough?

Edit: I didn’t expect this post to be as poignant as it became. There are so many of you… I can’t reply to everyone. I’m an 11 year user and have modded something like 150 subs over the years. I’m really sad too, but I’m finding that lemmy has most of the content I’m looking for, just needs more comments.

The API was a big blow, but removing awards on past posts and deleting coin balances is really dumb.

12 years. I was part of the Digg migration. I used to love Digg. Then a bunch of corporate asshole decided to run Digg into the ground and a new found love for Reddit slowly bloomed out of that. I am still hoping to find that love for Lemmy. It’s not quite there yet, but it is only a matter of time as I really appreciate the good vibes here.

Same, also came over from the DiggV4 fallout. . https://reddit.com/u/serinus

I’ve left an obscene number of comments over the last 12 years, and have had an annual subscription for most of them.

Honestly I’d rather Reddit fix their shit. I’d go back if they reverse course soon. But Lemmy needs to exist either way. Leaving Digg was possible because Reddit was a near competitor. Reddit doesn’t currently have a near competitor.

I haven’t blocked the site, but I’ve reduced my time there by more than 99%. I’ve kept my broken RiF, which effectively blocks the site from my phone.

My biggest reason for posting to Reddit was to influence public opinion on political matters. I worry that the people leaving may help turn Reddit into another right-wing hellscape. The world is tilting farther and farther towards fascism, and people are going to start dying for it.

If Reddit does turn into another right-wing hellscape then people have even more reason to flock to the fediverse
