I can’t experience the screeching :(
You can sideload it with adb. It’s just a security check targeting the sdk version of the app. If you use a special command, it can be done
This sounds like something I’m not capable of, but would like to be.
It really is just:
Connect Phone
Turn on USB debugging
Adb install whateverstring apkfileyouwant.apk
And done
That seems simple enough. Connect phone to my computer I assume? Haha, I wasn’t sure if you could do it all on your phone or not.
Android users are just jealous of the fact that the iPhone’s mic apps look way better.
Fuck, that does look good. I know good design when I see it.
That’s hilarious. I really didn’t expect it to be a real thing
Respect for F-droid
I could imagine it being kinda useful for one specific situation: hook your phone up to a Bluetooth speaker that’s a bit away from you, and you got a simple microphone that’s probably not the best, but might be better than none
These kind of apps exist on iOS too
Are they ad-free and open source?
I see a couple free projects on GitHub.
Not likely with the $99 apple developer licence bullshit
It’s only $99 if you want to submit to the App Store. Xcode is free and you can use it to compile FOSS apps and side load.
Best they can do is ad banners across the top and bottom.
But have they not been updated in 8 years? Do they suppress the horrible screeching feedback?
I don’t know if they have been updated; but no they have the horrible screeching feedback too. I used to use one of these apps on my iPod touch and had an aux running to the line in on my computer, worked great as a microphone
