The joke is, politics aside, that the US could easily equip both of them if they wanted to. Seems like the GOP is just full of Russian puppets and straight up insane religious extremists, who apparently can easily manipulate the broken US governmental system.

They have been breaking the system for the last couple decades. We’ve got a minority with majority power and the rest are paralyzed by fear of losing their elections

Might be good to understand the magnitude. For instance, we sold the Israelis 4,000 artillery shells. Ukraine uses 250,000 of those shells a month when they can.

The wildest thing I heard come out of this Gaza war is when they compared Israel being attacked by Hamas to Ukraine being invaded by Russia.

The Russians committed the same atrocities as Hamas and has taken hostages. It’s not that far off.

Am I missing something Israel has never, and likely won’t ever, fly Typhoons which is the only (military) jet Germany exports. Also practically all military exports from Germany to Israel post-October have been replacement parts for subs and radars and helmets and suchlike, only two things going to the army (as opposed to industry for testing, shipped there to get worked on and re-imported etc) that are classed as war arms are training ammunition and hand-held anti-tank missiles (i.e. Panzerfaust 3). Ukraine can use them but Ukraine’s also getting them and it’d be kinda hard to deny Israel that kind of export: Kinda useless to commit genocide and they own the producing company.

They could use more. The Russians are flying their air space pretty much at will and missles are coming at close to overwhelming numbers.

Would be nice if someone else would be stepping up as well. Germany hardly has any military to speak of yet it is somehow delivering the most weapons in recent months/weeks.

Seriously. Patriot, IRIS-T, Gepards, Skyranger… I know the Netherlands donated some units to fill a whole battery from Germany but who else is sending proper air defense? And where are all the fucking morons who constantly cried about German deliveries? Germany is so far ahead in donations to almost all big economies that it isn’t even funny anymore. But no one seem to cry about all those countries? Hell, the Ameritards even praise the GOP blocking everything. It’s like the world has gone fucking insane.

IRIS-T SLS/SLM and Skyranger aren’t even (yet) in use by the Bundeswehr, Gepards are already decommissioned (but still among the best systems out there). Thing is though unlike Ukraine Germany has an air force, we don’t need deep surface to air capabilities. They’re nice to have but not nearly as essential as for Ukraine.

Germany basically handed Ukraine a gift card valid for any purchase at any German arms company while saying “don’t worry about export controls it’s a formality”, many of those systems are either bought used from pretty much everywhere in the world and then refurbished and upgraded by the original manufacturers, or so brand-new the Bundeswehr itself isn’t even using them yet. Direct deliveries from Bundeswehr stock are generally stop-gap measures, the Bundeswehr really doesn’t have excess stock and any that it had (like old GDR Strelas) has long since been delivered.

The EU has delayed their budget until more Patriot systems are provided. Hopefully, this is only the first. There are around 100 such systems in the EU.

That’s just another show like Macrons big words about Russia. There will be no action. What makes you think suddenly there will be a difference? Other countries also have cruise missiles like Taurus but aren’t sending them. Only thing you hear is blaming Germany for not sending Taurus.

Yet somehow people buy all the rhetoric.

Both France and the UK have sent SCALP/ Shadowstorm cruise missiles to Ukraine, so I don’t get what you’re referring to. The Taurus would be interesting for Ukraine because of the longer range this weapon system has.

Yes they send some but the supply has been more or less dry. And they don’t seem to be ordering new ones. The UK literally suggested Germany could send them Taurus in exchange for Storm Shadow because they ran out and their new replacement missle is still in development and that is why they arent buying any new ones. Also anyone else could have bought Taurus or similar missles to send to Ukraine but they aren’t. Also UK/France are not the only countries that have similar systems. Yet you never hear complaints about them not sending them.

If it’s all talk, it doesn’t seem so with this news.

I’m not going to second guess why certain armaments aren’t provided as I know many factors are involved and am not privy to those decisions.

Parliament refused to sign off the budget of the Council, not for the EU. That’s business as usual they practically never sign it off because they always have some bone to pick, it’s a protest without legal effect.

…seemed to have been politically effective though which is what counts in this case.

A major Kyiv power station just got destroyed yesterday. The lights are still on, but just barely. And this is just the beginning of the new offensive.
